

Funeral service for Mrs. Arlis Sims Mitchell, 88, of Anniston, will be held on Saturday, July 8th, 2017 at 2pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Heathcock and Rodney Gardner officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday night at the funeral home. Mrs. Mitchell passed away at her home on Wednesday after a brief battle with cancer.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her daughters Glenda Spoon (Douglas) and Shirley Howie (Jerry); son Tommy Mitchell (Sandy); grandchildren Hilarie Howard, Justin Pilkington (Joann), Jarod Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell (Cartie), John Logan Mitchell, Doug Spoon (Dawn), David Spoon (Deborah), and Gary Howie; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter due in September.
She is preceded in death by her husband John L. Mitchell; parents Ellis and Vista Sims; brother Billy Sims; and sister-in-law Margaret Sims.
Pallbearers will be Jarod Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, John Logan Mitchell, David Spoon, Jerrod Brown, Ronnie Mitchell, Phillip Watson, and Mark Weems.
Mrs. Mitchell was a member of West Anniston Baptist Church for 65 years. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that anyone could ask for.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and techs on the 4th floor at RMC; her oncologist Dr. Aasim Sehbai; and her nurses and techs from Alacare hospice.
