A Graveside service for Barbara Jean Chisolm Russ of Eastaboga will be 3 pm, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Plum Springs Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30pm prior to the service at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary. Ms. Russ passed away peacefully at her home on October 6, 2017.
Ms. Russ was born in Cherokee county to Ralph and Ruby Chisolm. She was a graduate of Oxford High School in a year she would never reveal. Upon graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Russ. They remained happily married until his death in October of 2002. During their marriage, they built a house together, raised a son, enjoyed traveling, having friends over, and working in the yard.
She worked the majority of her career at Alagasco. Upon retirement, she enjoyed working at Timeless Treasures and dealing with antiques. She made some really close friends and acquaintances over the years. She loved everyone and never met a stranger. Her son was sometimes surprised when strangers would approach him and say, “You have to be Barbara’s son.” She enjoyed antiques, shopping, and most of all her son, Tyler Russ. She loved coming over to his farm and seeing all his ongoing projects. She was a giver like no other, household vet to her two dogs (Bailey and Hannah), wonderful mother, and caring friend to all that knew her.
She is survived by her son, Tyler Russ and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Terry Harris.
Pallbearers will be Will Coker, Carey Daniel, Mark Dowdy, Chad Sanders, Rob Smith, and Andrew Tyson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to your favorite charity.
Arrangements under the direction of Gray Brown-Service Mortuary & Crematory, Anniston, Alabama.
