

Alexandria – Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Roberson Powell, 88 of Alexandria will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at United Fellowship Baptist Church in Alexandria with Rev. George Smitherman and Rev. Tommy Reaves officiating with burial to follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends Monday night from 5-7 at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
Mrs. Powell passed on Thursday December 17, 2015 at RMC in Anniston.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her daughters, Pasty (Gary) King, and Sherry (Michael) Cross; sons, Gary (Grace) Powell, Steve (Brenda) Powell, and Terry (Carla) Powell; grandchildren, Jay, James, and Adam Nester, Johnny Staten, Danny, Joey, and Brent Powell, April King, Robin Achee, Jennipher Daniels, Michelle McQueen, and Amory Rachel; and many great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Powell is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Quention Powell; daughter, Betty Joyce Nester; sons, Tom Quention “Pim” Powell Jr., and Jerrell Powell.
Mrs. Powell was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County, a charter member of United Fellowship Baptist Church. She loved road trips, and raising her children. Mrs. Powell was employed with Alexandria High School for many years in the lunch room. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed. She had a great love for crocheting and made countless afghans for many children.
Family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the United Fellowship Baptist Church in Alexandria.
