Billy N. Glass

Funeral services for Billy Nelson Glass, 87, of Fultondale formerly of Anniston, will be 1 pm Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at Parker Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden. The family will receive friends today from 11 am – 1 pm at the Church. Mr. Glass died Monday at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Glass, daughter, Denise Glass Fant (Jerry), sons, Daryl Glass and Donald Glass, son-in-law, Eddie Massey, granddaughters, Jennifer Massey Attaway (Matthew), Kristen Glass and Ashley Glass, great grandchildren, Jackson Michael Attaway, Charla Grace Attaway, Makayla Glass and Makinley Glass, three sisters, Iva Johnston, Imogene Crook and Ila Partain (Ed).

Mr. Glass is preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Glass Massey, parents, Bennett Garrett and Ada Johnston Glass, brother, Benny Glass, sisters, Helen Reynolds, Richie Pentecost, Geraldine Glass and Erma Smith.

Mr. Glass was a native of Etowah County and a resident of Anniston from 1957 until he moved to Fultondale, AL in 2000. He was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Glass was the Administrator of Stringfellow Memorial Hospital from 1957 – 1985. He served as President of the Hospital Foundation from 1985 – 1988. Mr. Glass was a member of the American College of Hospital Administrator's, Kiwanis Club and the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce and the American Hospital Association for 31 years. He was presented the Life Diplomat award by the American College of Hospital Administrator’s in 1988. He served on numerous committees and Board of Directors for the Northeast Alabama Hospital Council where he served as State President. He was also on the Board of Directors of Alabama Society of Hospital Executives. Mr. Glass was a member of the Alabama Hospital Association and served on the Board of Directors for several years. He was a former member of the Anniston Country Club.
