Funeral service for Bobby L. Staton, 72 , of Ohatchee will be 7pm Tuesday, December 11th, 2018 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Mr. Wayne Dunaway officiating. Burial will take place Wednesday at 11 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Etowah County. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Staton passed away Friday at his residence.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Mary J. Lehr Staton; daughters Tera Staton and Jamie Staton; chosen daughters Dayna Kent, Donna Deese (Terry); son Tim Staton (Heather); chosen son Chris Lehr (Christi); grandchildren Ava Staton, McKenzie Staton, Jaxson and Jamie’s daughter; chosen grandchildren Chasta Shuler (Bobby), Zeb Coppock (Erin), Hannah Oden (Jason), Peyton Lehr, Jordan Lehr (Daniel), Britni Williams (Taylor), Zack Harris, and Brooke Lehr; great-grandchildren Ally and Lane Shuler, Axeson Coppock, Maddie and Hunter Oden ; two brothers Tony Staton and Benny Staton (Donna); sister Jennifer Alford (Jimmy); nephews Jeff Staton, Greg (Kristie) Staton, and Kevin Staton (Brandy); niece Kimberly Morgan; chosen nieces Marcia Sims (Jamie), Maddie Sims, Stephanie Heathcock (Jason), Kami Heathcock, Jade Heathcock (Laura), chosen great-nephew Jace Heathcock; great-niece Destiny Taliaferro; great-nephew Devon Taliaferro; brother-in-law Charlie Stewart (Deb).
Mr. Staton is preceded in death by his parents, Willodean Bone Staton and John Staton.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Staton, Greg Staton, Kevin Staton, Blake McGlaughn, Lance Lehr, and Zeb Coppock. Honorary will be Chris Lehr, Lloyd Lehr, Jason Oden, and Tony Staton.
Mr. Staton was born on October 10, 1946 to Willodean Bone and John Staton of Gadsden, AL. Mr. Staton was a graduate of Etowah High School in 1965 and earned an Associates Degree in Science and business management. He worked for Nappa Auto Parts for 17 years. He is a veteran of the United States Army. He liked sports and was an avid bowler, winning Co. champions in 2014.
To know him was to love him. Known to his grandchildren and friends as “Papa Bob.” You will always be in my hearts, my wonderful husband.
