Funeral Services for Carl Edwin Parton, Sr., 86 of Ohatchee will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Cheryl Blankenship, Rev. Sam Legon, and Aaron Acker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bowery Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, June 2, 2018 5-8 pm.
He died Friday June 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Known to most as Ed or Santa, he was born December 13, 1931 to AP (Pink) and Eva D Parton in Ohatchee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Carolyn, his sons Carl Parton, Jr., Collins Parton, and his daughter Jennae Parton Young. His grandchildren are Chase Parton and his wife Jessica, Carly Young, and Mason “tater tot” Young, and great grandson Carson Parton. His sisters are Mary Emma Acker and Eva Lee Smith. He is also survived by several special nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother A.P. Parton, his brothers-in-law, Gerald Acker and Clarence “Smitty” Smith, a nephew C L Smith and his in-laws, Bill and Jennie Mae Collins.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Jack’s Club and the Ohatchee Volunteer Fire Dept.
Mr. Parton was a veteran in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. In the Navy, he was part of the Seabees and was very proud of his service. He was a member of Ohatchee United Methodist Church, a former member of The Lions Club, The American Legion, and The Ohatchee Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Parton was a past master and member of the Ohatchee Masonic Lodge #380 and he was also a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, and the Shriners.
The family has requested that you please honor Mr. Parton by loving God, spending time with family, having family reunions often, supporting your local church, supporting your local fire dept., local schools and community. Continue believing in Santa, eating at Cracker Barrel, having dessert at Dairy Queen. Always opening your home to everybody, keeping your coffee pot full, collecting something that makes you happy, work hard, help others, and speak the truth.
