The Memorial Service for Carlton M. Thomas will be held Friday, 2 pm April 29, 2022 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. There will be a visitation for friends and family that Friday from 12 noon to 2 PM. Rev. Neal Hodo officiating, and burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Carlton M. Thomas, 85, of Anniston, Alabama, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, after battling a lengthy illness.
He was born to parents Guy and Ruth Thomas on January 27, 1937, in Fort Payne, Alabama. Carlton was an electrician and proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #136 for 62 years. He was a well-known and respected member of the Saks community for nearly 50 years.
He was married to Margie Brown, the love of his life, on August 16, 1957 and they spent the next 60 years together raising their family. Margie passed away on February 2018.
He is survived by his sister, Mavis Maxey; brother, Edsel Thomas; and children: Bruce Thomas and wife Fredia; Brent Thomas and wife Donna; Beverly Dorsey and husband Russ; and Beth Long and husband Bruce.
He was a loving and adored “Poppa” to grandchildren Kera, Stefan (Desi) & David (Kirsten) Dorsey, Cain Harbin (Lia), Leah Maegan Harbin, Justin Long, Ashley (Casey) Barker, Michelle Thomas, and Wade Thomas. His great-grandchildren are Amelia, Asa & Adalynn Dorsey, Vivienne Rose Harbin, Graham Benson Harbin, Mila & Welles Barker.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons Stefan Dorsey, Cain Harbin, David Ryan Dorsey, Wade Thomas, Justin Long, and Casey Barker.
