Charles Erwin Gunnells

Funeral Services for Charles Erwin Gunnells, 78, from Ohatchee will be 12pm Saturday, February 4th 2017 at Ragan’s Chapel. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 until service time. Mr. Gunnells passed away on January 31st, 2017.

He is preceded in death by his baby brother, Charles Morgan; mother, Wilma; father Charles Edgar; older brother John Gerald Gunnells; and one sister Mitty Lou Shull of Birmingham.

He leaves behind two sisters, Jackie Hickum of Missouri and Carolyn Files of Texas; two sons Sonny and Jeff Gunnells; two daughters Bridgett Ayers and Tammy Parks; four grandchildren Stevie West, Chase Gunnells, Taylor and Cole Ayers; two great grandchildren Bailey and Austin West; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Pallbearers will be David Haynes and other family and friends.

Mr. Gunnells was a veteran of the US Navy. He was the Alabama State Jitterbug Campion in 1982 and was known for his gifted dancing. With much ease, he had the ability to make people laugh. He was even better known for his helping hand that extended to many friends and family. He will be missed and forever held in the hearts of those close and afar.
