Clarence passed peacefully on March 5, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Clarence is survived by his step daughter Tina Poole Mangum ( Randy), step son Tim Poole (Renee`). Grandchildren, Kristen Bruner (Adam), Holli Thrasher (Adam), Leighann Elders (Josh), Cody Mangum (Kirstie), Anna Screws (Dustin), a special granddaughter Hayden LeFoy, 14 Great Grandchildren and nieces Kim Somers, Lisa Dismukes and several great nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Frances Poole Vinson, parents Clarence D Vinson, Sr and Pearl Vinson, sister Mary Dismukes and nephew Terry Dismukes.
He was an active member of Eulaton First Baptist Church serving as Deacon and Sunday School teacher for most of his adult life. He was an avid bowler, golfer, loved to travel and attend Alabama Football games. He also served in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant from 1955 to 1957.
He was a Professor at JSU from September 1, 1969 until his retirement on August 31,1992. He also taught at several high schools in the area before going to JSU. He received his Doctorate degree from the University of Alabama.
The family asked that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Eulaton First Baptist Church.
