C.W. (Papa) is survived by his son Carlton Brown (Tamara); Curtis Brown (Janet); grandchildren Cass Brown (Candy); Cody Brown (Lauren); Brittany Brown (Curt), Mackenzie Brown; great grandchildren, Catch Brown; Beckett Brown; Adley Brown; Leah Brown; Cade Brown; Stone Wilson; Isabella Brown; Gabby Brown.
C.W. was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Brown; parents Alton and Mathalda Brown;
brother D.M. Brown.
In his early career, C.W. was a photographer, first in the Army and later for rodeo magazines. He spent most of his career in civil service and retired as an editor for military chemical/MP schools at Fort McClellan, Alabama. Papa loved his sons deeply and enjoyed spending time with his family in any capacity. Traveling, fishing, and even shopping were good excuses to get together. Adding a new pair of shoes to the closet was considered a worthwhile outing with any family member.
A visitation for Conroe will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 542 West 52nd Street Anniston, AL 36206. Following the visitation will be a graveside
service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Anniston Memorial Gardens 4000 US-431, Anniston, AL 36206.
Pallbearers will be Cass Brown, Cody Brown, Catch Brown, Byron Greenwood, Clint Smith, Curt Brown, and Bryant Childress.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stone Wilson and Cade Brown.

C.W. will be laid to rest in Anniston Memorial Gardens, 4000 US Highway 431 Anniston, Alabama 36206-8595.
