Funeral services for Curtis W. “Slim” Cunningham, 91, of Jacksonville, will be 2 pm Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with Rev. Glen Studdard officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 pm until time of service at the funeral home. Mr. Cunningham died Tuesday in Gadsden.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Margaret Barnard Cunningham of Jacksonville, two daughters, Melba Feazell (Harold) of Oxford and Kathy Comer (Barry) of Satsuma, AL, one son, Roger Cunningham (Charlene) of Munford, five grandchildren, Tanya Stovall (Jerome) and Michelle Timmons (Mark) all of Oxford, Scott Cunningham (Betty) of Roopville, GA, Bryan Comer of Mobile and Brandy Milam (Albert) of Houston, TX, five great grandchildren, one brother, Hobert Cunningham (Virginia) of Oxford, one sister-in-law, Helen Cunningham of Dinwiddie, VA, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cunningham is preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Pearl Cunningham, three brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Cunningham was a U.S.Army veteran. He retired from Hodges & Company after 33 years of service and from the City of Jacksonville after 11 years of service. He was better known to people as “Slim Cunningham”. H e was a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church. His famous line was “Morning Glory”.
