Darlene lived a life filled with love, laughter and devotion to those closest to her. Her kindness, grace, compassion and love of her family will always be remembered. She was a woman who found joy in the simple and meaningful moments in life. She was a strong woman that was very dedicated to her job and never took a sick day, except for surgeries and vacations. She had a passion for scrapbooking, preserving the precious memories for her family to cherish for generations. She also had a knack for greeting cards and her Christmas cards were something that Hallmark envied. Darlene loved to watch the red birds while setting on her sun porch. She also enjoyed riding in her Jeep, taking trips and adventures wherever the road might lead her and husband, Jamie. She was also a devoted fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football and enjoyed cheering on her team. Above all, the greatest joy of her life was her family. She was a lifelong native of Calhoun County. Darlene and her husband lived in the same home in Ohatchee, Alabama for the past 42 years where they raised their children.
Darlene’s warmth, kindness and love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the memories she created and the lives she touched.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the team of nurses and doctors at the UAB Cardiac Care Unit that cared for Darlene in her final days.
She will have a private graveside service at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jason Thompson, Charlie Humphrey, Kobe Eady and Koley Thompson.
