A Celebration of Life for David Ray Tankersley of Anniston, AL will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Jarmon and Milton Harris officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2 with chapel services to follow. Burial will be at Forestlawn Cemetery.
David went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2022 at the age of 84.
David is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Betty; his two sons, Jeff (Dorinda) and Philip (Kristie); granddaughter, Kimberly (Josh); grandsons, Kevin (Michelle), Timothy, David and Daniel; great granddaughter, Kaylee; brother, Donald (Jean), Eddie (Barbara) and Kenneth; sister, Mary Anderson; sister-in-law, Barbara; several nieces and nephews.
He preceded in death by his Father, Houston and Mother Pearlea; brother, Nathan (Joyce), Brother Bill and sister-in-law Linda.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kevin Stone, Timothy Tankersley, David Tankersley and Daniel Tankersley; His nephews Dennis Pontero, Zack Carpenter and Chad Carpenter; close friends Lin Bridges and Milton Daugherty. Honorary pallbearers are God’s Grace Class.
David lived in Anniston, AL and attended Alexandria High School. He served in the Air Force from July 10, 1956 – June 30, 1960. David worked at Joe Zics and Kemps Officenter.
David was a Sunday school teacher for over 60 years at Saks Baptist, Fellowship Baptist and Hillcrest Baptist Church. He will always be remembered for his love for Jesus and his passion for delivering Gods Holy Word. He will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In lieu of flowers, David requested donations to be made to the Hillcrest Building Fund at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 5117 Post Oak Rd, Anniston, AL 36206
