Donald Nelson Glass, age 65, of Birmingham, formerly of Anniston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 30,2026 at 12:00pm, in the Chapel of Gray Brown Service Mortuary, with visitation held 1 hour prior to the service.
Donald was predeceased in death by his beloved parents Billy Nelson Glass and Mary Jo Glass and his sister, Diane Glass Massey.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Denise Glass Fant (Jerry) who provided unwavering support and love, making sure his every want and need was provided for after the death of their parents. A very special niece, Jennifer Massey Attaway and her husband Matthew, who also gave their love, support and care along with their children, Jackson Michael Attaway and Charla Grace Attaway, who could always bring a smile to his face when they visited.
Donald is also survived by his brother, Billy Daryl Glass and his daughters, Kristen Glass Scott (Josh} and Ashley Glass Odum (Seth). Great nieces and nephew Makayla Glass, McKinley Glass, Kassie Odum and Jax Odum along with a host of other family and friends.
Donald was a longtime member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, devoted his life to serving and mentoring children/youth during his time at Parker. Anyone that knew Donald knew of his love for the Lord, his church and his family.
He also loved all things Christmas and the Christmas season, family gatherings, uncooked (and cooked) dressing, not just at Thanksgiving but anytime it was served, banana pudding, Atlanta Braves baseball, but most of all he loved his Auburn Tigers! WAR EAGLE!!!
Following his parents’ death he moved to Danberry at Inverness Retirement Community. The residents, staff and management team quickly became his second family. He dearly loved them all and cherished the friendships he made during the past 14 years.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire Danberry Community for the love, support and friendships fostered over the years; to Dr. Amanda Wright and her team for the kindness and care provided for Donald and also to longtime family friends Robert and Shannon Woods, for the close friendship and care they provided. We would also like to extend our thanks to the many doctors and nurses at Grandview Hospital who cared for Don.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Parker Memorial Baptist Church, 1205 Quintard Avenue, Anniston, AL 36201 or to The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation (Ovarian Cancer Support Group), P O Box 36445, Birmingham, AL 35236, to honor the memory of his loving sister, Diane.
In addition, a Celebration of Life Service will also be held at a later date at Danberry at Inverness Retirement Community in Birmingham.
