It’s a sad sad time as so many of us are entering our twilight years, we also have to say “so long” to some of those so dear and precious to us.  Don Patman, first cousin to the Lester and Anne Bryant clan, was such a great guy, a devout Christian, husband, father, grandfather and every other loving pronoun you can think of.  My memories as a child, were seeing him batting rocks with a stick off the front driveway across the pasture. Yes, the house on the hill.  I was sure, me about 10 years old, that he would surely be a pro baseball player, he could sure hit those rocks.  His mom, Durah, was my mom’s sister.  Don married his sweetheart, Barbara, and they were a pair!  Don, so tall, Barbara, so petite!  But that’s not what their magic was about, they were soulmates to the end.  Don always a jokester, what a sense of humor, so fun to be with and around!  Barbara matches his wit with style!  He didn’t get too much over Barbara, they were always making anyone around them laugh, be happy, appreciate life.  Don and Barbara lost their only grandchild when she was a teenager!  Yet, Don, Barbara, and daughter, Stacie, remained strong and consistent in their faith.  I remember Barbara telling me, “lots of people have tragedy and lose grandchildren, but when you only have one, it’s really hard.”  Don and Barbara also lost their only child, as an adult, to illness.  Their loss and life had truly been a testament to love and commitment to each other and to Christ.  Both Don and Barbara have had health issues in the most recent past.  They were both in the hospital at the same time, each more concerned about the other than themselves.  Don will be missed more than he ever knew, not only by his incredibly awesome Barbara, but by anyone whose life he touched.

Don has been reunited with his two beautiful sisters. They loved him so much. He always kept them laughing it was never a dull moment with him.

Don you was such a true blessing to me, when I was younger and some of my teens years, you was like another parent to me, I'm forever grateful to you. I know where your at because you sure served the Lord as long as I've known you.  I will miss that big smile and your sweetness. I love you Angela Boyd
