Doris attended Ayers Community College, carrying forward a steady determination and a strong work ethic that would remain evident throughout her life. In all she did, she approached each day with thoughtful care for others and a devotion that could be felt most by those closest to her.
A woman of deep faith, Doris loved her church and the Lord. That faithful foundation shaped the way she lived—kind-hearted, compassionate, and generous, always ready to extend help to anyone in need. As the matriarch of her family, she offered strength, guidance, and a quiet inspiration that will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
Doris also embraced the wider world with a spirit of adventure. She loved to travel the world with her best friend Pat, finding joy in going to different places and experiencing all that life had to offer.
Above all, Doris loved the Lord, and loved her family more than anything. Her legacy is one of devotion, generosity, and enduring love—an example that will continue to guide those who were blessed to know her.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Reba Johnson, and Shelley Mooney (Brad) and Kelley Miller (Scott); her son, Billy Moon Jr.; sister, Karen Lambert; brothers, Gerald Estes and Ronnie Estes; and grandchildren, Casey Irwin (Brian), Kyle Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Heather Reeves (James), Lee Taylor Stern (April), Andrew Scott Miller, and Matthew Moon.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Dalton & Willie Mae Estes; grandson, Justin Mooney; spouse, William A. Big Billy Moon; her loving companion, Virgil Bonds; brother, Calvin Ray Estes; and sisters, Kathy Mildred McNeely and Sylvia Hilliker.
Pallbearers will be Lee Stern, Andrew Miller, Aiden Reeves, James Reeves, Kyle Johnson, and Brian Irwin.

A Committal Service will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 542 West 52nd Street, Anniston, AL 36206, on September 23, 2026, Visitation 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Service 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Doris will be laid to rest at Anniston Memorial Gardens, 4000 US Highway 431, Anniston.
