Mrs. Doris Christa Smith, age 86, of Anniston, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, September 1, 2025. She was born May 23rd, 1939, in Berlin, Germany, daughter of Erich Herman Willi Ulrich and Charlotte Maria Henritte Ulrich.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Oliver Smith.
Doris lived in Germany with her parents until her marriage to a U.S. serviceman and then became a U.S. citizen. She raised a family while being stationed at various military bases until she and her husband finally settled in Anniston Alabama. She loved flowers and cheerful décor. She attended Weaver First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children Patricia Lynn St. John and Vernon Erich Smith, as well as by her grand-daughter Sydney Rebecca Bernard Smith.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday September 17th at 12:30 PM at Fort McClellan Post Cemetery located at 540 Goode Road.
Donations to the American Cancer Society are requested in-lue of flowers.
