Preston lived just a few miles from where I lived in Weaver, so I would go by and see him often. Sometimes we sat and talked for hours, other times I had things to do so we only spent a few minutes together. Preston always had an interesting story to tell and always made time for me. On a few occasions, we would jump in his Corvette or my truck and ride to Georgia to buy lottery tickets or ride out in the country to shoot a pistol or a gun he had bought or traded. We will miss Uncle Preston.

Preston was not only my Uncle, but a true friend. We often texted or called each other to find out what the other was up to. We always found time to watch an Alabama football game together or to sit in his den and talk about guns or his favorite football playing memories. Preston had a sharp mind, an excellent memory of past events, a firm handshake, a big hug, and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed laughing and a good joke. Since Preston and I shared the same name - Elbert - we often joked about making a TV hunting show titled Elbert's Outdoors. We will deeply miss Preston, he was the best Uncle and friend a guy could ever hope for. RIP Uncle Preston - no more discomfort or worries.
