Elgia lived most of her life in Anniston, Alabama, where she was known for her caring heart and dedication to children and family. She worked for Head Start and also kept children in her home for many years, touching the lives of countless families in her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers and sisters; and her daughters, Denise Hase (Mike) and Robin Pearson. Grandsons Lane Peoples and Jim Shurbutt and daughter in law Glenda Easterwood.
Elgia is survived by her children: Teresa White (David), Danny Easterwood, and Billy Easterwood (Annette).
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sherry Peoples, Stacey Watson (Phillip), David White (Mandy), Michele Shurbutt, Nicole Thomas (Nathen), Bo Pearson, Lisa Farmer (Ryan), Tyler Easterwood, Alan Easterwood (Ashley), and Jason Dew.
She is lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren: Breanna Watson, Kaitlin Watson, Hannah Rush, Christian Peoples, Shawn Farmer, Fisher White, Seth Farmer, Roman Thomas, Jackson Thomas, Karli Shurbutt, and Rory Easterwood.
Elgia was a devoted mother and grandmother who did whatever was necessary to provide for and care for her family. She will always be remembered for her strength, generosity, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. She was truly the best mother and grandmother, and her family will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
Funeral Services for Elgia will be held in the chapel at Gray-Brown Service on Tuesday, March 17th, 2026 at 2 PM. The family will receive friends for visitation an hour prior starting at 1 PM.
Graveside services will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Alexandria, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be David White, Tyler Easterwood, Christian Peoples, Fisher White, Austin Rush, and Chuck Pittman.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of her Thursday Bible Study group.
She will be greatly missed by her family and by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
