Ethel Mae Johnson Powell

Funeral service for Ethel Mae Johnson Powell, 93, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with the Rev. Buddy Nelson, the Rev. Doug Powell, and Bishop Harold Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday night. Mrs. Powell passed away Sunday at Shelby Ridge Long Term. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Fridy (Tom); eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Lloyd (J.T.); sister-in-law, Frances Powell; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Powell is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gerald Powell; her sons, Vincent Gerald Powell and John Danny Powell; and a number of brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Thomas, Matthew, Benjamin and Jakob Fridy, Andy Faulk, and Larry Lloyd. James Fridy will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Mrs. Powell was a long-time member of First Baptist of Anniston. She enjoyed working at the church nursery and was a Luzier Cosmetics consultant for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be missed.
