Funeral service for Mrs. Frances “Thomas” McCullars, 90, of Ohatchee, will be 2:00 PM, Monday, June 16, 2014, at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with Jerry Starling and Whitt Hibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Crook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM at the funeral home on Monday. Mrs. McCullars died Thursday at RMC in Anniston.
Survivors include her son, Jerry T. McCullars and wife Ina; Grandson, Joey McCullars; and her beloved Shih Tzu, Tabo.
Mrs. McCullars is preceded in death by her husband, Travice T. McCullars; parents, John and Susie Thomas; grandson, Jerry Mark McCullars; and several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Allan Heathcock, Brad Pritchett, Daniel Lee, Louis Roberts, Norman Thomas, and Warren McCullars. Honorary pallbearers will be Lexter Douthard.
Mrs. McCullars was a lifelong resident of Alexandria Valley. She was a Law Clerk for 40 years for the Honorable Lon Chandler Watson Federal Judge. She was also a Christian and a longtime member of Oak Bowery Baptist Church. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Howard McVeigh; Dr. Roland Brown of Golden Springs Baptist Church; Dr. Vance Moore and the staff of Oxford Family Practice; the Doctors and Nurses at RMC: Anniston; her longtime friends Mary Emma Acker, Vida Newell, and Eva Carver; special family member, Dick Pritchett for being there in times of need; Lexter Douthard for being there nearly every day of her life to take care of things she couldn’t take care of herself; and caregivers, Carolyn Davenport and Sandy Mullins.
