Fred Howard Knighton Jr.

Oxford - Funeral services for Mr. Fred Howard Knighton Jr., 76 of Oxford will be Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Slick officiating burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Knighton passed away January 27, 2015 at his home in Oxford.

Mr. Knighton is survived by his wife, Juanita Knighton; daughter, Joy Cornelius; son, Casey (Jenifer) Knighton; grandchildren, Cody and Jacey Knighton, Ashley (Todd) Hester, and Brandy Strickland; great-grandchildren, Boston, Quinn, and Judah Hester, Andrew and Adam Strickland; nephew, Mark Knighton.

Pallbearers will be Shane Sprayberry, Andrew Strickland, Scott Roszell, Derek Slick, and Todd Hester.

Mr. Knighton was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Knighton.

Mr. Knighton was a native and lifelong resident of Alabama; he was employed with the US Postal Service after serving in the US Marine Corp. where he received two Purple hearts and a Bronze Star for his service. He was a loving husband and father; he loved all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mr. Knighton was one of the most loyal and dedicated fans of the University of Alabama you could ever meet. Family requests that visitors wear anything Alabama in honor of Mr. Knighton.
