Gary Lynn McGinnis, 70, of Centre, AL, passed away on August 5th, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. He spent his whole adult life working as a skilled mechanic, a profession that perfectly suited his natural problem solving abilities and passion for mechanics. Known throughout the community for his steady presence, honesty, and dependable work ethic, Gary was always the 1st person neighbors, friends, & family would call when they were stuck on a problem. Beyond the garage, Gary loved fishing, boat riding, and teaching young ones how to dive, swim, drive boats & jet skis, as well as how to water ski. Gary was an awesome Father & Father figure in many young people’s lives. The little things in life is what meant the most to him. He was one of the most giving men you would have ever met and he never asked for anything in return.
Preceded in death by his parents, G.C. & Margaret McGinnis, Sister & Brother-In-Law, Vicki & Richard Haynes, and Wife, Elizabeth Callahan.
Survived by Daughter, Taylor Callahan; Step-son, Cody Callahan (Payton); Special Son, Christopher Haynes (Mary); and special Grandson, Jacob Haynes.
