Tim (Lynn) Thomas, Deborah (Johnny) Stancil, Michael (Gay) Thomas and Matthew (Vickie) Thomas; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Stella Mae Thomas. Pallbearers will be grandsons; honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Munford Baptist Church. Mr. Thomas was a native of Strawberry Plains, TN and a resident of Anniston since 1974. Mr. Thomas faithfully served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. During the Vietnam War, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal with four bronze stars. He also was awarded the Vietnam Army Commendation Medal. Mr. Thomas truly loved his country. He also was a true fan of his Tennessee Vols. After retiring from the U.S. Army with 20 years of distinguished service he served another 20 years of Civil Service with the Anniston Army Depot. He gave much of his time to work with the Bynum Baseball for Youth. He also ministered for five years with the Opportunity Center. Mr. Thomas was a faithful Deacon at Munford Baptist Church. He was a four year graduate of Gadsden State earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He loved and cherished his high school sweet heart and wife of 60 years. In doing so he set an example on how you love, trust and take care of the woman God gives you. As a father of 3 sons, and 1 daughter, “Dad” knew how to be a father of integrity. He always could speak without saying a word. His nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, consumed his heart, they all truly loved their “papaw”. As we find grace and mercy in God’s arms. As a family we trust in the promises found in the word of God. George Thomas truly trusted in his savior Jesus Christ. His name is written in the Lambs Book of Life. In his last days, his family faithfully waited on him and loved him every day. Now he is in heaven waiting on his family to join him. Praise God for Eternal Salvation. May God bless all that have ministered to the Thomas family; you are truly loved and appreciated. Special blessings to the staff of Hospice Complete, you are amazing. The family request in lieu of flowers that donations can be made to the Munford Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 126, Munford, AL 36268.
