Goldie Ruth Kelley Mynatt of LaGrange, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, just short of her 94th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her husband Morgan Harris Mynatt, son-in-law Floyd Moser, parents William James and Goldie Mayes Kelley, one sister Nan Kelley Webb (Charles Laverne), two brothers Francis Mayes Kelley and William Louis Kelley.
Goldie is survived by her loving daughters Pamela Mynatt Moser of Dalton, Georgia, Kelley Mynatt Mitchell and son-in-law Samuel P. Mitchell III of LaGrange, Georgia, grandchildren Morgan Mitchell Sanchez (Michael), Nicholas Moser, great-granddaughter Kelley Ruth Sanchez and niece Nancy Webb Walker.
As a native of Anniston, Alabama she graduated from Alexandria High School and the Anniston Business School. She worked as administrative support at Fort McClellan in Calhoun County, Alabama where she earned several civilian accommodations from the U.S Army. The U.S. Army installation was known for training troops for WWI, WWII and the Cold War and serving as the home for the US Army Chemical School, Military Police School and Women’s Army Corps School.
Goldie was instrumental in her support of the 1967 opening of Dalton State College in Dalton, Georgia where her husband was the first Dean of Students. They were part of a small group of administrative staff and their families who were put together before the buildings were even constructed. She loved horses and was an avid gardener who liked to grow roses.
There will be a graveside service at Highland Cemetery at 829 E. 10th Street in Anniston, Alabama on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 2pm Central.
