All who knew Helen saw this characteristic in her...
'A gentle and quiet spirit which is precious in the sight of the Lord'. 1 Peter 3:4
She was born in rural Mississippi growing up there and later also in Alabama. She was the oldest of eight siblings and along with them grew up with strong family values. At the age of twenty-one she met and married her husband Jimmie Ballard, and became a Pastor's wife. Together they raised four children and lived all over the country for most of the next 60 years. She always carried herself in the dignity and grace of a true virtuous women as described in Proverbs 31. In the latter years of her life she enjoyed teaching a ladies Bible class at Church of the Cross where her youngest son and his son-in-law both serve as pastors.
As is written in Proverbs 31, many have done well but she has excelled them all and was welcomed into heaven with 'well done good and faithful servant' from the one she loves the most. Her Lord Jesus Messiah.”
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jimmie) Lewis Ballard of Anniston, AL, her parents Daniel Lamar Jennings and Willie Naomi Hicks Jennings of Reform, AL, three siblings, Harvey Jennings of Hamilton, AL (wife Mary), Ann Jennings Moore of Old Fort, TN (husband Arnold), and Glen Jennings of Mobile, AL (wife Becky).
