Funeral service for James A. White, 78 of Alexandria, will be 3 pm, Thursday, April 3, 2013, at United Fellowship Baptist Church with Dr. George Smitherman and Rev. Tommy Reaves officiating. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 pm at the church on Thursday. Mr. White died Saturday at Noland Hospital in Anniston.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia White; children, Debra Taylor (Terry), Phillip White (Carolyn), Patty Hammonds (Eddie), and David Smith (Rebecca); Grandchildren, David Smith (Rebecca), Terie Guffey (Mark), Trell Taylor (Suellen), Stephanie Williams (Mark), Derek White, Leslie Perkins (Justin), Justin Houston (Natalie), Kristin Ginn (Bryant), Kaylan Hammonds and Dustan Hammonds; 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Perry White (Sybil), Ray Andrews (Jacque) and Jerry Andrews; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. White is preceded in death by his parents, Claude White and Hortense Andrews
Pallbearer will be grandsons.
Mr. White was a devote Christian, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. He was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He was a Charter Member of United Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. White retired from the Anniston Army Depot with over 16 years of service. He was an avid Auburn fan.
