Jerry A. Nunnelly died peacefully in his Ohatchee, Alabama home on May 19th at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Louise Nunnelly, and his brother, H.B. Nunnelly.
Jerry could often be found on his pine tree farm, fishing at the lake, working in his shop, or sitting on the front porch enjoying the sunshine. His children and grandchildren remember him as an avid gardener who grew the best tomatoes and loved to share them with the community. He was famous among family and friends for his ability to give any person or pet a unique nickname that suited them perfectly. Jerry also had a special talent for making each of his many grandchildren feel they were his “best buddy”. Jerry and Frances would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on Friday, May 24th.
A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22nd at Oak Bowery Baptist Church in Ohatchee. Jerry’s family will begin receiving visitors at 10 a.m. Reverend Darrell Brown and Reverend Doctor Sam Fordham will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jerry’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Oak Bowery Baptist Church at 3300 Alabama Highway 144, Ohatchee, Alabama.
