Jessie "Papa Thornton" Harris

Memorial services for Mr. Jessie Thornton Harris “Papa Thornton”, 68 of Ohatchee will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 16th at Ohatchee First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Caudle Officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Mr. Harris passed away August 2nd in Jacksonville.

Survivors include his daughter Tammy LaBerge (Dave) of Colorado Springs, Co., his son Steven Harris (Crystal) of Heflin, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his brother Eugene Harris (Jeanette) of Florida, several nieces and nephews, and special friends Lamar Crosson (Cathy), Jerry Hale(Mickey) and Kristi Owens.

Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his wife Patricia “Mama Trish” Harris, parents Maeward and Mittylene Harris, daughter Kathy Taylor, Sister Ann Harrison and brothers Arnold and Morris Harris.

Mr. Harris was a native of Clay County and a resident of Calhoun County. He graduated Lineville High School and was a member of Ohatchee First Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and loved his grandchildren.
