Jimmie dedicated 25 years of service to the Oxford City Board of Education as a school bus driver, ensuring the safe transport of students with unwavering reliability. After retiring from the school system, he continued his commitment to public service by working as a dump truck driver for the city's street department.
In addition to his municipal roles, Jimmie was a well-known figure in the local nightlife community. He worked at several area establishments, mostly the "Switchyard" and "The Alabama Show Palace/Oak Room", where he held various positions such as bartender, bar back, manager, bouncer, and cook. He became especially recognized for "Thursday's $5 Steak Night," a popular event fondly remembered by many.
Known affectionately as "THE Papa," Jimmie held a special place in the hearts of those around him.
He is survived by his daughter Jamie Robinson and her husband Josh; granddaughter Eleaxus Pettus and her fiance Josh Haynes; grandson Zechariah Scott; sister Suzie Fee and her husband Roy; and three great-grandchildren: Samuel and Ryder Meyer, and AbiGail Scott.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Barbara Ann; son Jimmy Freeman Scott II; daughter "Misty Dawn" Scott; grandson Malachi David Scott; parents Gib "Catfish" Jones and Lillian L. Jones; sister Betty Jo Holloway; and brothers Tedium, Gordon, and Hy Jones also James Scott.
Pallbearers will be Josh Robinson, Zechariah Scott, Josh Haynes, Gerald Kamp, Woody Staggs also Matt Terry.
Family will receive visitors Monday January 19,2026, from 12 pm to 1 pm with service beginning at 1:00 pm where Mr Stan Albright will say a few words at Gray Brown Funeral Home, 1329 Wilmer Ave Anniston. Where family and friends are more than welcome to follow Jimmie to Union Grove Cemetery in Golden Springs where he will be laid to rest beside his wife.
In lieu of flowers donations are welcomed and accepted to help cover the expenses of the service.
