Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Vance, 77, of Gadsden and Anniston, will be 5 pm Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Chaplin Jason Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 – 5 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 2 pm at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL. Mr. Vance passed away on June 26th, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Vance; his sons, Mark Vance, John Vance (Erica), and Bryan Vance (Shawna); sister, Helen Quick; brother Lonnie Vance (Carol); grandchildren, Maisie Vance, Payton Vance, Shelby Vance, including a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Vance is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Zelta Vance; brother Ronald Vance.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Thomas and Anthony Scyphers.
Jimmy bravely served our country in the Army military for 23 years. During that time, he became Sgt. Major and was a Vietnam vet. Serving as a Military Policeman, he was awarded the Bronze Star in Vietnam. His last Duty Assignment and Major Command was Head Quarter and Company A 701st MP Battalion at Fort McClellan in Alabama. Jimmy enjoyed fishing and riding his Kabota on the ridgelines of West Virginia. He loved spending his summers in West Virginia, staying busy, and spending time with his grandchildren whom he loved so dearly. Jimmy loved having reunions with his former high school football team and coach. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
