Mr. Cupp was born on May 20th, 1947 in Anniston, Alabama to Lawrence (Buck) and Mary Sue Cupp. He was a National Guard Veteran and he worked at Goodyear for thirty-six and a half years. He married the love of his life of 55 years Shelby Cupp on February 24th, 1968. Anyone who knew these two knew they were inseparable and they loved each other more than life itself. They raised two amazing sons Greg Cupp (Tina) and the late John Brandon Cupp (Michele and Andrew). John Cupp has five beautiful grandchildren who he loved with his whole being, Joeley Cupp (Austin), Chandler Cupp(Madison), Briah Cupp, Blakley Cupp, Kylie Cupp, and Mr.Cupp is survived by one brother Lawrence (Junie) Cupp (Marie), and many nieces and nephews.
John Cupp loved Jesus with his whole heart. He studied scripture daily and he loved to question and get answers as to what God was telling him through His word. John spent his free time doing anything outside he could find to do, This usually included one of his favorite hobbies chopping wood or building his rock wall which he took great pride in. He loved hunting, fishing, and his Friday night Wellborn Panthers football. He loved getting out in the yard and playing basketball, softball, football, volleyball, golf, kick the can, but his all time favorite game to play with his grandchildren was peg. He loved playing cards with his son, his wife, and all of his grandchildren. His favorite card game of all time was Rook. One of our favorite memories was when he would win a game of cards and we would make him sing our song. John was a great friend and would help anyone who needed him.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearance.
