Many thousand 22LR RF rounds since that Saturday in Birmingham in 2007 ! It took us a while that we had inferior ammo and rifles not as good as Gene Corvin`s ,but we got there some how ! JP got both Freddy Gaddis `s rifles and JP was off to the races shooting big time matches all across the south and finishing in the top 5 in the USA in 2015 & 2016 ! Quite an achievement ! JP was the entertainer with a rather dry delivery and some never caught his satire ! Every body has a JP story , but this is one of Many ! One Saturday at Gene Corvins range in Oneonta on a 20 minute 25 record shot Card ,JP yelled "TIME OUT ,TIME Out", which you can`t do! Gene ask JP what is the problem ? JP answered , "The Earth has Shifted" Gene asked,Do What? JP said I`m shooting my wind flags ! The wind changed and JP`s flags were in his Point of Aim and shot a couple of Zeros ! Gene told JP the wind changed directions not the Earth ,it will change again and JP finished his target ! Man did we have a laugh with JP and the Earth Shifting ! We gonna Miss him !

I treasure the year (1980-81) that I worked with Paul. The friendship we developed has remained. I was delighted when my daughter and his son fell in love and married. You can't imagine how happy I was to see him last year and talk over old times. RIP my friend.

My condolences to the entire Nelson family. J.P. Was much respected in the rimfire community as a very competitive and dedicated shooter. As a new shooter JP would offer me advise and help anyone anytime. His presence at the range will be truly missed as everyone looked forward seeing Mr. JP. Thanks for your service Sergeant Major......
