LaDonna Guinn McDermott was born in Anniston, Alabama, to Nathan and Dorothy Guinn on August 6, 1967. She grew up surrounded by a large, loving family and remained deeply devoted to them throughout her life.
She was a graduate of Walter Wellborn High School (Class of 1985) and an Athletic Hostess at Jacksonville State University under Coach Burgess before earning her associate's degree from Gadsden Business College in 1989.
In March 1997, LaDonna married David McDermott, and together they built a loving home where she dedicated herself to raising their children. She was a gifted pianist, sharing her talent in churches for over 17 years. Even as arthritis made it painful to play, she found joy in music, often playing hymns when she thought no one was listening.
LaDonna was a devoted daughter, staying by her mother’s side through health challenges, determined to help her recover. Her deep faith in Jesus Christ was evident not just in words but in her daily acts of kindness and service. She was a member of Church of the Highlands.
She is preceded in death by her parents Nathan and Dorothy Guinn. She is survived by her husband David McDermott; her children: Andrew McDermott (Tiffany), Haley Nunn (Kyle), Tyler McDermott (Ashley), and Hannah McDermott; her cherished grandchildren: Braylin, Lily, Liam & Maisey; and her siblings: David Guinn, Kathy Hathorn, and Gary Guinn.
LaDonna’s unwavering love and dedication to her family and faith will always be remembered.
The family will host a celebration of life at New Haven Baptist Church. Visitors are welcome starting at 2 PM, with the service beginning at 3 PM.
