Lucille Bussey, age 89, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 26, 2011, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a Christian who did not keep her faith hidden. She shared her talents by serving as the church treasurer for Iron City Baptist Church; as the Director of the Women’s Missionary Union/Women on Mission organization for over 30 years; sang in the choir; worked in vacation Bible School; and in recent years worked faithfully with the Angel Mission Group making gifts for shut-ins and nursing home patients. She loved her God and taught Sunday School to a group of ladies who grew spiritually together. She was a great influence in the lives of many people.
She was a surrogate mother to her nieces and nephews when their mothers went to their heavenly homecoming. She was the family leader. She was one of ten children and did what was necessary to help each and every sibling and her parents when her help was needed. She was an encourager to everyone she met. She was unselfish and has left that legacy to her family. Family get-togethers were a big part of what she enjoyed.
She is survived by two brothers, Paul Bussey of Saks and Spurgeon Bussey of Old Davis Town. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. She was a friend to many. She will truly be missed.
