

Memorial services for Lula Maxwell Ponder, 94, of Rainbow City will be held grave side at 10 a.m. on the 23rd of Sept, 2015 at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will be received Tuesday evening the 22nd at Chapel Hill funeral home in Anniston between 6 and 8 p.m. Mrs. Ponder was born March 24, 1921, in Winterboro (Talladega County) and married Clarence Ponder of Talladega Sept 2, 1950. After marrying, Mrs. Ponder was a loving housewife and mother throughout her recent passing. She is survived by three sons, Russell (Christine) of Fort Worth, Tx, Richard (Sandy) of Jacksonville, Al and George (Kaye) of Hahira, Ga; six grandchildren, April Bruhl (Jimmy), Chaz Ponder, Stacy Ponder, Brandon Couch, Amanda Henry (Reggie) and Channel McBride; four great-grandchildren, Cayla Couch, Lily Henry, Hanna Henry and Ruby Henry; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Walter and Frankie Ponder, sister-in-law Allene Ponder, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Clarence Ponder, brothers Alfred Randall and Raum Randall. She was a longtime resident of Weaver but lived at Regency Pointe Assisted Living in Rainbow City for the last 3 years. Her hobbies include gardening, reading and traveling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weaver Al, a choir member and soloist, and a member of the Dorcas ladies Sunday school class. Mrs. Ponder will be remembered mostly for her biblical knowledge and spiritual following that was the catalyst for the sweet personality that everyone was attracted too.
