Born in Albertville, Alabama, to Lena Monk and Lester H. Camp, Ann’s early life was shaped by the loss of her mother and the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II. These formative years instilled in her both high personal standards and a lifelong empathy for others. Throughout her life, Ann poured her heart into her Christian faith and her community, constantly offering thoughtful, often unseen gestures of kindness, from growing flowers for her church to delivering home-cooked meals to anyone in need during times of illness or loss. Above all, she cherished the time spent gathered with her extended family, children, and grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Jonas R. Luker; her parents; her five sisters and their husbands; a cherished niece; and two nephews.
She lives on in the hearts of her surviving family: her daughters, Rebecca Luker Shiveler, and JoAnn Luker and her husband Will Jansen; and her granddaughters, Dr. Erin Shiveler and Whitney Shiveler.
A visitation will begin at 1:30 PM and memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel at Parker Memorial Baptist Church Life Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parker Memorial Senior Program or the Wounded Warrior Project.
