Margaret A Pitts, 85, passed away on October 20, 2026. Born February 25, 1941, Margaret lived in Anniston, Alabama, where she built a life marked by steady devotion, quiet strength, and a kind-hearted spirit that left a lasting imprint on those who knew her.
Margaret retired from the Wellborn School system, a fitting capstone to years of hard work and faithful service. In all she did, she carried herself with compassion and loyalty—qualities that were felt most deeply by her family and all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
Margaret was married to "her high school sweetheart, and love of her life" Raymond, for 42 years, and she loved her family more than anything. She cherished family gatherings and the simple, meaningful gift of time together, offering encouragement and care in ways that were both steadfast and inspirational.
She found joy outdoors—gardening, tending to her flowers, watching hummingbirds, and spending time by the pool. These were the places where her gentle nature seemed to shine most clearly, reflecting the warmth and kindness she so freely gave.
Margaret was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where her faithful presence and caring heart were part of the community she valued.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl McBrayer ( George); her son, Rusty (Marshlelia); sister, Eva Massey; grandchildren, David Goodman, Sean Goodman, and Brooklyn Barnett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil & Lucille Gilpin; her husband, Raymond Pitts; sister, Norma Jean Brown; and her grandson, Rustin Pitts.
Pallbearers will be George McBrayer, Michael Barnett, David Goodman, Sean Goodman, Gannon Goodman, and Donnie Oliver.
