Mary Burgess, a devoted, compassionate, hard-working, loyal, and kind-hearted woman, passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on September 21, 1955, Mary was a resident of Gadsden, Alabama.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Jeffery Burgess, and her daughter, Shelly Hammett. Mary is also survived by her brothers, Rodney Morrison and Brad Morrison, as well as her nephews, Brian Grubbs and Kevin Mitchell. Her cherished grandchildren, Skyler Hammett and Pacey Hammett, will deeply miss her presence. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Diane Mitchell, and her parents, Earl & Mary Morrison.
Mary had a passion for flowers and reading books. She loved spending time with her family and was an avid NASCAR fan. She found joy in going to the beach and walking along the shore. Mary enjoyed watching Braves games and had a talent for baking and cooking. Above all, she loved her family very much.
A visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, located at 542 West 52nd Street, Anniston, AL 36206, on January 6, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Following the visitation, a committal service graveside will take place from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Maple Grove cemetery.
Mary will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
