Mary Polly Haynes

Services for Mary Polly Haynes of Ohatchee, Alabama will be at Gray Brown Funeral Home Monday, November 30, 2020, with visitation from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm with a private graveside service immediately following. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Haynes passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 27, 2020, at the age of 86.

She is preceded in death by her parents Elbert and Sina Pettus, three sisters, and two brothers.

She is survived by her brother Clarence Pettus (Betty), her two sons, Tony Haynes (Donna) and Bruce Haynes (Tammy), two daughters, Sheila Darlene Pruitt (Mike) and Beverly Haynes; grandchildren Tonia Hargett, Brandi Lawless (Clayton), Sina Buse (Fred), Cody Haynes (Sophia), Anna Weathers (Jordan), Will Haynes (Melodie), Sarah Waller, Caitlin Moody (Bill), Mary Elizabeth Burton (Davis) and Karly Haynes; great-grandchildren, Haley Hargett, Brady Pitts, Emma Pitts, Colt Haynes, Mijia Brooks, Anastasia Brooks, Ada Weathers, Harper Weathers, Levi Buse, and Warner Haynes.

She was a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a sister, a friend, a prayer warrior, a daughter of the King, and was known to most as Memaw Polly.

Memaw was a woman of grit and strength, grace and tenderness. To know her was to be loved by her. She walked in wisdom and humility. Her hospitality knew no bounds. Her cooking was enjoyed by people near and far. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. She would listen to you, would pray with you and for you. She loved the Lord and couldn’t help but speak of God’s goodness to all she met.

With her life and her words, she showed her family what it is to live with boldness and self-confidence in the truth and goodness of the living God. As a family, we are grateful for her life and we live with the hope in knowing we will see her again.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice and her nurse Charity for loving and taking such good care of Memaw Polly.

She is clothed with strength and dignity. She laughs without fear of the future.
