
Mary Lucille Hammett Grant passed away on April 6, 2015, at NHC Healthcare; born August 15, 1913, she was the oldest living member of Blue Mountain Baptist Church. A service celebrating her life will be at the church at 11:00AM on April 9; the family will receive friends from 10:00AM until service time. Reverend Truman Norred will officiate; burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald M. Grant (Annette) of Oxford, and Gary A Grant (Mary) of Shrewsbury, Pa; four grandchildren Greg Grant (Teri) of Columbus, Ga, Karen Reeder (Dennis) of Oxford, Heather Machado (Roman) of Point Pleasant, NJ, and Sean Poole (Erin) of Delta, PA; six great-grandchildren Madison and Grant Reeder, Ben Grant, Maya and Elias Machado, and Clay Poole.
Lucille was born in Blue Mountain, later moved to Gadsden and graduated from Emma Sansom High School.
She is preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Grant; brother Howard Hammet; sisters, Eva Stephens, Eula Cox, Mildred Holland, Helen Hammett, and Nan Hammett.
Lucille was retired from Blue Mountain Linen Thread Company. She was known for her scrupulous housekeeping, as well as her integrity, honesty, and sense of duty.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, make donations to Blue Mountain Baptist Church.
