

Funeral services for Maudie Lee Estes, 93, will be Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Gray Brown Funeral Home with Rev. John Johnson and Rev. Scotty Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Edgemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday August 2, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Estes died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at her home in Gadsden.
Mrs. Estes was known to most as “MawMaw”. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church and attended Riverview Baptist in Southside while living in Gadsden. MawMaw loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved the Lord and lived to follow his will. She touched many lives while teaching Sunday School for many years at Wayside. Mrs. Estes worked and retired from Wellborn High School as lunchroom manager.
Mrs. Estes was preceded in death by her husband, Duard Estes; sons, Harold Estes and Larry Estes; and one grandson, Colman Estes.
She is survived by one daughter, Gloria Joyce Green of Gadsden; two granddaughters, Kelly Estes of Anniston and Sonya Britnell (Jason) of Moulton, AL; two great- granddaughters, Jaycey Stephens of Anniston and Trinity Britnell of Moulton, AL; one chosen daughter and caregiver, Donna Meads of Anniston; one chosen son, Eddie Goodwin of Anniston; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Drummond, Eddie Goodwin, Jimmy Ward, Gaston Estes, Bob Shaw, Jason Britnell, Ronald Haynes and Clay Little.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Home Health and Amedisys Hospice. A special thanks to her aide Britney and nurse Kelly for all your compassion and love shown to “MawMaw”.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Estes memory to Wayside Baptist Church, 3609 Old Birmingham Hwy, Anniston, AL 36201.
