She is survived by her three sisters, Violet Brooks of Alexandria; Almedia Phillips (William) of Leatherwood and Nancy Ralston of Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Thornton; parents, Lue and Nannie Lou Griffith; brothers, L.R. Griffith, Paul Griffith and Emmie Griffith; sisters, Ruth McCurry, Cleo Dodd, Elizabeth Rogers and Nora Deering.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 12-2 pm at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary. Funeral services will be held afterwards at 2 pm with Pastor Chris Connell officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens
Pallbearers will be Roscoe Griffith, Ronnie Henderson, Mike Dodd, Cary Snelling, Terry Brooks, Leon Dodd, Frank Dodd and Sammy McCurry.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Reid, Bennett Hinds, Kermit Hinds and Tommy Strickland.
