Nonnie M "Kay" Hammond

A memorial service for Nonnie M. "Kay" Hammond, 93, will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Gray Brown Service Mortuary Chapel in Anniston with the Rev. Leeann Scarborough officiating. Mrs. Hammond died on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Talladega Healthcare.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence P. Hammond; parents, Edgar and Kate McKay; siblings, Lesley McKay, Thesley McKay, Mary Lott, Sarah Mathews and Ruby Feazell. She is survived by her children, Judy Hammond Elliott (Joel) and Robert Paul Hammond (Wanda); granddaughters, Mary Margaret Allen (Kenneth), Laura Beth Gonzalez (Adrian) and Elizabeth Armstrong Elliott; great- grandchildren, Lane, Turner and Carson Allen and Emma and Elly Gonzalez; sister, Willene Bailey; long-time caregiver, Kaye Johnson.

Mrs. Hammond was born on January 2, 1923 in Clay County and moved to Anniston in 1942. She retired from Fort McClellan after thirty-two years of government service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Anniston since 1952.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Gray Brown Service Mortuary and the graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery and Memorial Gardens immediately following the memorial service. -
