
Graveside service for Norman E. “Gene” Youngblood, 87, of Oxford, will be 3 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Edgemont Cemetery with Richard O’Conner officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Youngblood died Sunday at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Dean Rhoten Youngblood, three sons, Gary Wayne Youngblood and wife Rose of Oxford, Norman Grant Youngblood and wife Rita of Anniston and Jimmy Dale Youngblood of Los Angeles, CA., two grandsons, Taylor Grant Youngblood (Kara) of Dothan, AL, and Hunter Cole Youngblood (Robin) of Canton, TX, niece, Martha Y. Kurtz of Anniston, six great grandchildren, Taylor Grant Youngblood II, Jack Wesley, Belle Anne, Sofia and twins Lily and Lucy Youngblood.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Youngblood, Hunter Youngblood, Will Wilson, Fred Kurtz, Larry Joe Ford and Taylor Grant Youngblood II.
Mr. Youngblood was born on January 8, 1924, the son of Percy Samuel and Addie Corine Youngblood. He was a retired electrician from the International Electrical Workers Union #136. Mr. Youngblood was preceded in death by his parents Percy Samuel and Addie Corine Youngblood and brothers Wade Douglas Youngblood and William Grant “John” Youngblood. Mr. Youngblood was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a World War II US army veteran.
