Philip is survived by his wife, Joyce Howell; his daughters Tammy Thompson (Ray); Misty Howell (Kelvin); and his son David Howell (Jeannie); his brother Michael Howell; his grandchildren Shrenda Alton, Joshua Howell, Caleb Howell, Catelynn Howell, Zachary Thompson, Mason Howell, Alexis Looney, Tiffany Looney, his great grandchild Jeremiah Harris, his sister-in-law Patsy Hollingsworth (Tim), his brother-in-law Jerry Sharpton (Emily) and his other sister-in-law Carolyn Jones and several great nieces and nephews.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Harriett Howell and his parents in law Robert and Louise Sharpton; his granddaughter Alyssa Thompson.
Funeral services for Philip will be Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Lloyds Chapel with Rev. Greg Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Howell, Caleb Howell, Zachary Thompson, Mason Howell, TJ Hollingsworth, Randy Hollingsworth and Corey Hollingsworth.
Philip was a lifelong resident of Alabama. He graduated Jacksonville High School and Later Gadsden State University. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he received a purple heart. He worked for Tape Craft and was a Baptist Preacher for several churches throughout Calhoun County. He was an avid gardener and loved the Atlanta Braves, Alabama Football and chocolate milk.
