Gomey lived a life filled with love for others and his family. Anyone who knew him, knew they were loved and that they mattered. He was the kind of person that changed the atmosphere of a room when he walked in. He was strong in his faith, worshipped unashamed with all that was within him, and shared the love of Jesus with anyone who would listen. Gomey overflowed with joy and was a bright light in a dark world. He loved God, his family, friends, and coffee. Gomey said this, “I want to make a difference. I might not be able to do it all or reach all or touch all, but I can do what I can do. I might not be as good as some, but I can be as good as me. That is all I need to be. The world needs you to be you. So maybe it is time that you take the broken wings in your life and fly. Spread those wings and fly. Fly, my friend.”
There will be a Celebration of Gomey’s life held at the Oxford Civic Center on Tuesday, September 21st at 6:30pm. All who loved Gomey are invited to attend. Gomey is also survived by his grand-dogs and grand-cats. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored for family and friends to make a donation in his name to Allie’s Hope for Paws Dog Rescue.
