Rhonda Lee (Cissy) Long (70) passed away Sunday morning, August 24, 2025 in Chelsea, AL. She was predeceased by her brother, Scott (Scotty) Long and is survived by her sister-in-law, Kathey Long of Hoover, AL. She is survived by her siblings, Diane Long, of Chelsea, Larry Long (Sissy) of Hoover, AL and Lance Long (Ann) of Highland, MI; She is also survived by nieces (great) and nephews (great) who all think they are her favorite family member. As did her three “Sisters-in-Love” – a special title Cissy created.
Cissy earned devotion and a desire for her attention because of her outpouring of love onto each and every person in her family.
Cissy, Diane, and their mother, Christine Hudson Long, moved into their Chelsea home in 1994 and quickly turned it into a home families dream of. Gatherings there had spreads of food, stacks of gifts, and big jars of candy --- with Cissy doing most of the cooking, the wrapping, the decorating and the candy making.
Rhonda (Cissy) Long attended Anniston High School in Anniston, AL. After graduation, her passion for business landed her a job with L.L. Berry, Corp, The Yellow Pages, acquired by AT&T. She climbed the ladder of success and worked with the company in telecommunications for 34 years.
After retirement, she developed a company that incorporated her domestic and business skills. She opened “Cissy’s Sweets & Sew & So” from her kitchen. Her talents and expertise combined to make her successful.
Cissy’s greatest joy in life was her “baby girls”, “the girls”, and /or “my babies”. During her life, those puppy angels were Gabi, Lexi, Madi, Molly, and Chloe. Losing each girl made for the saddest times of her life.
Her announcements of their passing would make you able to feel her loss. It was evident she ached physically each time she couldn’t save one. Last Wed., Aug. 20, she and Diane shared with their family and friends that they lost their precious Molly girl. Miss Chloe (the last pup) is still with Diane.
Cissy’s strong Christian faith and her love for God helped her manage all of those heart breaking losses. Rhonda Cissy Long deeply loved God, her country, her family, her pups, and her Auburn Tigers. No matter the sport or the weather, as long as she was able, she was there for her beloved Auburn.
Through many years Diane and Cissy would cook for the Auburn players and become their most devoted fans. When tailgating was truly tailgating and when there was room on campus to have huge crowds around your cars, tables and grills; Cissy Long was in heaven.
And that’s where she is today. She, her girls, her brother with, and her God.
Rhonda (Cissy) Long will be buried in Forestlawn Gardens Cemetery 730 Golden Springs Rd, Anniston Alabama 36207, after a graveside service there on Friday, August 29th at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “Tunnels to Towers”
