Graveside services for Robert Lee Broom, 89, 0f Anniston will be 1 pm Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Eulaton United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Paul Broom officiating. Mr. Broom passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at his residence.
Robert (Bob) Broom was born on July 30th, 1932 just outside Oneonta, Al. but he considered Villa Rica, GA his hometown. The positive, “Sandlot” experience of growing up in a Mill Village never left him. Bob was preceded in death by his Wife of 64 years, Louise Broom, a son Stan Broom, his father and namesake, Robert Lee Broom Sr., his Mother in whose eyes he could do no wrong, Eva Broom, a sister Mildred Broom, a Nephew Gary Holaway, a daughter in-law Phyllis Broom, a grandson Trenton Roberts and a great grandson Lincoln Engle.
Bob is survived by his children, Ronald, Robby (Jeannie), Janet (TW) and Paul (Kathy), Sandra Holaway, grandchildren Bridgett, Jonathan, Shelly, Lindsey, Ty, Jack, Miles, Sara, Nathan and Rob, great grandchildren, and special neighbors, Gene Williams, Steve and Teresa Gross.
Bob was a Christian. He was a member of West Park Heights Baptist Church for over 60 years. One of his grandchildren wrote about her pawpaw, Robert Lee Broom was many, many things, but most importantly he was a man who loved his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor, he showed affection by teasing, he gave the best hugs and he could tell the best stories of his childhood. I swear he never forgot a single detail of his childhood. Without fail if you went into their house you would find Pawpaw in his room, in his chair with one of his shows on, but the catch is over half the time he would be asleep with his head back and mouth open. If you were to change the channel or turn off the TV he would wake up and say he was resting his eyes during the commercials. Then he would offer one of the many snacks he had hidden around his room. Among those snacks the offer for ice cream (chocolate) or popcorn (burnt) would also be suggested. There are so many stories I could share about my pawpaw but there aren't enough words to describe the love he had for his family and that we have for him. While we will always miss him, we are all so happy he is reunited with Mawmaw. To the wonderful life of Robert Lee, the best father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather that anyone could ever ask for. Daddy was greatly loved and he will be greatly missed. We thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the life of our father and that he now is in the Lord’s presence and one day we will join him and all our loved ones there.
