

Robert J. Burr Jr a native of Jacksonville, FL and longtime resident of Jacksonville, AL died in a local hospital on Saturday at the age of 86 surrounded by his family. Robert was a humble man who served his country 22 years in the United States Air Force, and 20 years at the Anniston Army Depot. Robert was a generous sole that clearly understood it is better to give than receive. This was truly evident in the devoted long-term care he provided for his son Keith and later his beloved wife Thelma. Robert enjoyed his hobbies, travel, history and reading. However, his most favorite hobby was being surrounded by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years Thelma Joyce Burr (nee mange), his son Robert Keith Burr, his parents Robert J. and Erma Burr.
He is survived by his daughters Robin Givhan (Tim), and Sharon Ross (Bill), Daughter- in- law Sonya Burr. One brother Edward Cliff Burr. Seven grandchildren Shanna Fleig (Jeff), Anna Chambless (Ryan), Steven Ross, Tyler Burr (Caroline), Sarah Hulett (Taylor), Sidney Collins (David). Eight great grandchildren Gavin Fleig, Evelyn Burr, Luke Collins, Jake Chambliss, Colt Chambliss, Avery Chambliss, baby Burr (due June 2, 2025) and many nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Marion Johnson for her loving care of both Robert and Thelma during times of extended illness.

Robert will be laid to rest in Anniston Memorial Gardens, 4000 US Highway 431, Anniston, Alabama 36206-8595. Visitation at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Friday January 17, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 Pm.
